Real LiDAR terrain. Real building heights. Real bike paths. Real valley oaks. We're building Davis from actual geodata — and we need people who know and love this town to help us finish it.
Our pipeline fuses LiDAR terrain, OpenStreetMap buildings, traced footprints, and City of Davis GIS data to auto-generate a 1-meter-accurate Minecraft world of the whole town.
Benches, bike racks, murals, signage — things databases miss. We need people who know Davis to add the bench outside Mishka's, the bikes outside Shields Library.
Approved builders join the Minecraft server. Claim a zone, get the style guide, and make your neighborhood look exactly like the real thing.
Add real-world detail to OpenStreetMap and it automatically appears in the generated world. Your bench, your bike rack, your tree — in the game forever.

OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a free, community-built map of the world — like Wikipedia, but for maps. Our world generator pulls data directly from OSM to place benches, bike racks, trees, and street detail into Minecraft. The more OSM is filled in for Davis, the more alive our world will be. You don't need Minecraft — just a browser.
We're looking for contributors with a real connection to Davis — students, alumni, locals, or builders who care about making something accurate and lasting.
Every application is reviewed personally. We'd rather have 30 committed builders than 300 who never log on.
We'll review your application and reach out by email.
